BE FIERCE WITH 'LA PIMBÊCHE'

I'd like to introduce you to a lovely girl that I've met a couple of years ago. Her name is Patricia and she's from Montreal. She recently launched her own brand called La Pimbêche. I thought my blog would be a great platform to share with you her lovely creations and also get to know the story behind it.

La Pimbêche celebrates the equality of the female gender and self-affirmation of all the women around the world. Her line features a variety of colorful patches with fun and powerful taglines. Each patch has its own little story but they all point in the same direction: the celebration of women's self-expression and acceptance. Personally, I share the same vision as Patricia where I dream of a world where everyone could be equal, no matter their gender. It was obvious that I would fall in love with her stuff, and would rock them on many outfits!

So without any further due, here's the interview I did with her :)

Can you talk us about your personal background/passions so we can get to know you a little better?
My name is Patricia and I'm a creative individual. I am passionate about human relationships, and especially women’s empowerment. I have a background in marketing, branding and social media engagement. I’m also a professional artist, a painter.
Art has always been a big part of my life. I remember when I was little, I wasn’t into TV or video games like all the other kids. I was creating a mess with all my colour crayons, gouache paint, watercolors and collages of all types. My grandmother and my mother also were artists, so art was a big part of my childhood.

Please tell us how did everything started with La Pimbêche?
I've been exploring a lot of painting technics these past few years and my next step was to explore contemporary activist art. That's when I decided to research deeper into the topic of feminism since it’s a vital part of my beliefs.
I started to paint feminism artwork inspired by political moments, stereotypes and women’s sexual empowerment with sarcasm and bad ass taglines. It felt so natural to create those art pieces that it became the beginning of La Pimbêche. The patches were an extension of this art series. My objective is to have my messages travel from one jean jacket to another. The ultimate goal is to be part of a positive change in society.

How did you come up with that cool name?
La Pimbêche is a word used to criticize women with opinions, that argue a lot and especially that think they are the best and know better. It's a familiar French word used to make fun of smart women, it also represents for me what society feels about feminists in a sarcastic way.

What message do you want to vehiculate with your brand?
I'd like gender equality to be common sense in our society. I want all women to f*cking own it, to be fierce like Frida and to never have second thoughts like "what would they say". I want all genders to be part of the feminism movement so we can live in a world of acceptance.

Who are your biggest inspirations or feminist icons?
There's a lot of amazing modern women that support the same beliefs as La Pimbêche feminism. Chelsey Handler, Emma Watson, Beyoncé, Lena Dunham are all my fave modern feminism women that convey a strong message of confidence, acceptance and equality.

Is there a targeted audience for your brand?
I think my message can touch women of all ages. There's no age to face challenges in life that make you roll up your sleeves, put on your lipstick and get to it! The nature of my product and provocative visuals attract Millennials –  however, I love seeing older women rocking my patches fiercely.

Anything exciting coming up for you in the next couple of months that you'd like to share with us (events, expositions, etc)?
The summer has been crazy! I have less gigs this fall so that will give me time to work on my next collection.

What's the easiest way to buy your products?
